Mothina
Mothina, signed limited edition art print on 235gsm matte fine art paper, including border. 3 sizes.
This painting, which I have named Mothina, has been in the works for many years. It was one of those artworks that is never quite finished that has been wrought only when I have remembered its existence. It began as a random scribble back in 2022, and originally it was supposed to be garden inspired, however as time elapsed it morphed into something much more morbid.
Mothina is eternally confined to the Red Moth Tower, a place teeming with her devoted moth army. Perhaps she is their mother, or perhaps she is simply a host. Either way, the moths blossom forth after feeding on her blood, escaping from her chest cavity as they blossom out into the world. Through their eyes she is afforded visions of the world that she cannot see through her own.
I can’t say I’m sure as to why I chose such a deeply unsettling narrative for her, but I do love horrifying things.
